P. M. BRIEFING : GTE, Video Retailer Settle Suit

TAMPA, Fla. —
GTE, which earlier this year was awarded $100 million in its legal battle with Home Shopping Network Inc., announced today it has agreed to a settlement with the video retailer for an undisclosed cash payment.
GTE Florida and GTE Communications won the libel and slander award in August after a Circuit Court jury rejected HSN’s $1.5-billion suit claiming GTE provided ineffective telephone equipment and service.
Under terms of the settlement, all litigation between the companies will be concluded with all parties releasing claims against each other.
