MALDEF--The Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund is scheduled Monday to release “The Human Costs of Employer Sanctions,” a critical report on the implementations of the 1986 Immigration Reform and Control Act.

PARKING--The Hollywood Project Area Committee of the Community Redevelopment Agency will consider Monday whether city-owned parking lots in Hollywood should be converted to metered parking or allowed to remain under management of private parking lot operators.

FREEWAYS--Assemblyman Riachard Katz (D-Sylmar), Chairman of the Assembly Transportation Committee, will hold a special hearing Tuesday at the Los Angeles City Board of Public Works office regarding the seismic safety of California’s freeway system. Specific attention will be given to Los Angeles-area bridges and overpasses.

ELECTION DAY--Voters will go to the polls from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday to elect City Council members and decide local ballot issues in 14 cities across Los Angeles County. Elections are also scheduled in 68 school districts, eight water districts, one library district and a road financing authority. One election in Hermosa Beach will determine whether dogs can run free in a new city park.
