Lufthansa and KLM Offer Incentives

Share

Lufthansa again is offering a complimentary Avis rental car for one week to passengers flying round trip from the United States to Frankfurt. The offer is good from now through March 31, 1990.

Two people have to fly together between Sunday and Thursday, paying any of Lufthansa’s regular fares, excluding its nonrefundable Special Saver fare. The offer is good, however, with the airline’s APEX fare.

Reservations for the car have to be made at least 14 days before departure, with Lufthansa taking care of the booking. You can pick up the car at the airports in Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna and 15 other German and Austrian cities. Have your Lufthansa ticket ready to show at the Avis counter.

The offer includes unlimited mileage and the value-added tax in both West Germany and Austria. In addition, you have free drop-off privileges when you return the car to an Avis station served by Lufthansa, as long as it’s in the same country in which you picked up the auto.

Another off-season offer comes from KLM. If you fly round trip to Amsterdam on the Dutch airline, you’re entitled to the Happy Holland Bargain. This offers you your first night’s accommodation in Amsterdam for $20 to $40 per person based on double occupancy, depending on the hotel. Continental breakfast is included, along with taxes and service charges. One child under 12 is free when sharing the room with two adults.

If you’re traveling solo, you can get rooms from $30 to $70.

Twenty-one hotels, mostly in downtown Amsterdam, are participating in the program. The offer is good until April 1, 1990. The hotel booking should be made in the United States, and can be processed by KLM at the time of the air booking.
