TAX VOTE: How tight is an Orange County taxpayer’s fist? Records are spotty, but it appears that voters in only one city, Stanton, have ever approved a city tax (for paramedic service). . . . Voters have never approved a countywide tax. Backers of Tuesday’s half-cent sales tax proposal have taken the hint. On the ballot (B1), the transportation measure is 360 words long, but the first mention of “tax” is buried 308 words deep.
