Easy Way to Store Those Plastic Grocery Bags

Share

If your kitchen cupboards or drawers are overflowing with those plastic sacks from the grocery, now there’s Hold-a-Bag, an item that proves the handiest products are the often the simplest.

Hold-a-Bag stores 15 plastic bags at a time and dispenses them for reuse.

The beige plastic holder--8 inches long by 5 inches wide and 3 1/2 inches deep--can sit on a countertop or attach with the enclosed adhesive strip to a cupboard door.

To store the bags, roll them up and stuff them into the top of the holder. A second hole in the bottom lets you pull them out one-by-one.

The suggested retail price for Hold-a-Bag, distributed nationally, is $3.99. In Southern California, it is available at Longs Drugs, Alpha Beta markets and Sav-Mart. If you can’t find the holder in your area, contact International Novus Industries Inc., 408 S. Pasadena Ave., Suite 1, Pasadena, Calif. 91105; (818) 449-0760.

Antifreeze Injection for Cooler Cars

EZ Changer makes changing car antifreeze easier with no mess. All you need to use it is a garden hose and a bucket.

Produced by Auto-Saver Corp. in Glenview, Ill., EZ Changer flushes old coolant and loose corrosion from a car cooling system, through the radiator cap opening, in about 15 minutes.

It works only with cross-flow radiators, those on which the cap is atop a radiator on one side. “It works for most vehicles,” says Auto-Saver’s Fred Fox. “About 90% of domestic cars on the road and 75% of all cars and trucks in operation have side-tank radiators. But some imported cars have down-flow radiators with the cap in the middle, and EZ Changer does not work on those.”

EZ Changer is available for $19.95, plus $2 shipping and handling, from Auto-Saver Corp., 2019 Fir St., Glenview, Ill. 60025; (800) CHANGEX.

A Guide for Tinseltown Wheelers and Dealers

As the use of fax machines for fast business correspondence grows in popularity, so does the need for access to fax numbers. Companies dealing with entertainment industry-related businesses may want a copy of the Los Angeles Entertainment Industry Fax Directory 1989-90, a 75-page booklet of fax (and phone) numbers just out last month.

Developed by Jody Belsher, a Los Angeles mother of two who has worked out of her home as a personal manager for entertainment figures, the directory lists numerous firms ranging from talent agencies to production companies to casting directors and film laboratories.

More than 600 firms are listed by category and alphabetized by first name or letter. Belsher received permission from firms to print their fax numbers, and requests that people using the directory not send junk mail.

The guide is available in the Los Angeles area at bookstores, including Samuel French and Larry Edmunds stores in Hollywood and Studio City, and Book Soup on Sunset Boulevard.

For $22.30 including tax, postage and handling, it also may be mail-ordered by writing: L.A.E.I. FAX Directory, c/o J. Shochet Co., 2001 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 600, Santa Monica, Calif. 90403; (213) 828-3481.

Furniture for Small Couch Potatoes

For kids growing up with couch potato parents, there’s a new line of children’s mini-sofas just out. California’s Krause’s Sofa Factory has just introduced Small Fries, scale models of five of their popular regular-size sofas made just for children.

The handmade frame sofas, fashioned of different fabrics chosen for durability, are about a quarter the size of a normal couch. That makes them about three feet wide, almost two feet high and 18 inches deep, Krause representatives say. There is even a pint-sized sleeper sofa.

“I had a special tiny sofa made for my grandson, Alexander,” explained Ayse Kenmore, Krause’s co-owner. “He couldn’t be pried off his sofa and his little friends loved it so much I decided to make Small Fries available for children everywhere.”

The small sofas retail for $149; the sleeper is $199. They’re sold at Krause’s 60 showrooms in Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico and Texas. Or you can order from the company, at 18430 Pacific St., Fountain Valley, Calif. 92708; (714) 963-5607.
