COUNTYWIDE : Morning Fog Causes Delays for 13 Flights
Fog shrouded the runways at John Wayne Airport early Thursday, delaying 13 flights and forcing cancellation of another bound for Minneapolis.
Departures were delayed for about an hour and a half, until 8:45 a.m., according to Bill Pemberton, an airport operations officer.
And in some cases, flights to Orange County were held back in other cities until the fog lifted, airline officials said. But no arriving airliners were diverted to other airports.
Northwest Airlines canceled Flight 112 to Minneapolis, which had been scheduled to depart at 6:50 a.m. with 90 passengers aboard a Boeing 757. Those passengers either took later flights or were transferred to other airlines, airport officials said.
