Hockney Faxes Artwork: David Hockney’s fax art has gone international. Hockney’s latest work, “Tennis,” went on display in Bradford, England Saturday after Hockney sent it there from his Los Angeles studio in 144 separate faxed sheets. It was hailed as a milestone by the Independent, a London newspaper. Hockney, 52, used four fax machines Friday to transmit the black-and-white abstract image depicting a game of tennis to the Salts Mill art gallery at Saltaire, near his hometown of Bradford in Yorkshire, England. The transmission took more than two hours and the complete picture, once assembled onto a screen with paste, in line with Hockney’s detailed instructions, was 15 feet by 9 feet, 6 inches.
