COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Harvey Leads UCI Past Pepperdine in Water Polo
Julian Harvey scored on a penalty shot with two minutes left to lift UC Irvine to a 10-9 victory over Pepperdine in a Big West Conference water polo match Sunday at Heritage Park in Irvine.
It was the first conference loss for Pepperdine (23-5 overall, 8-1 in conference). Pepperdine is ranked third in the nation. UC Irvine (23-6, 7-2) is ranked second.
Tom Warde and Dan Smoot each had three goals for Irvine.
In the Intercollegiate Coaches’ Assn. regional tennis championships at UC Irvine, Irvine’s Trevor Kronemann and Shige Kanroji won the doubles title with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Donnie Isaak and Andras Lanyi of USC.
Jason Netter of UCLA defeated Scott Sigerseth of Arizona, 6-4, 6-1, to win the singles title.
