Coronado
Two Coronado youths discovered foreign objects in candy they collected on Halloween, a Coronado police spokesman said Tuesday.
According to officer Mike Dassero, one youth found a nail and the other a pin inside a Tootsie Roll. Both discovered the objects before eating the candy, he said.
One of the youths obtained the candy while trick-or-treating within the Coronado Cays housing area, said Dassero. The other youth picked up the tainted candy in the Navy housing areas of San Diego and Coronado.
Coronado police officials said the recent discoveries are the only reports of candy tampering this Halloween but said parents should closely examine any remaining candy.
