Pomona Officers File Suit Against City Councilman

Share

Two Pomona police officers sued in U.S. District Court in Santa Ana Tuesday, accusing a City Council member of violating their civil rights by disclosing confidential information during a council meeting.

The suit was filed against Councilman C. L. (Clay) Bryant and the city of Pomona by Sgt. Gary Elofson and Detective Raul Camargo, who is president of the Pomona Police Officers Assn.

Bryant told a council audience last month that Camargo had been seeing a psychiatrist and disclosed that Camargo and a sergeant were being investigated for sexual harassment and lewd conduct. Bryant made his comments after the Police Officers Assn., which was upset at the council’s decision to fire Police Chief Richard M. Tefank, joined a campaign to recall Bryant.
