Starr Wins Case to Block Album: Ringo Starr has been victorious in his attempt to prevent the release of an album recorded in 1987 while he was under the influence of alcohol and marijuana. Atlanta Superior Court Judge Clarence Cooper supported the ex-Beatle’s contention that the recordings are substandard and would be a professional embarrassment to Starr, who underwent treatment for alcoholism last year. That decision was revealed Wednesday at the start of a trial about whether Starr owes producer Chips Moman $146,239 for expenses incurred making the record and whether Moman has any rights to future Starr recordings.
