South Gate : Junior High Principal Is Honored at Capital Meeting

Principal Peter L. Ferry of South Gate Junior High School was honored as a principal of the year at the “In Honor of Excellence” education symposium held last month in Washington, D.C.
Ferry was honored along with more than 100 principals and educators from urban and rural schools at the annual event, which is funded by the Burger King Corp. and co-sponsored by the National Assn. of Secondary School Principals and the Council of Chief State School Officers.
Ferry has been principal at South Gate Junior High since 1983. He has been an educator in the Los Angeles Unified School District for 29 years.
Ferry has a doctorate in school finance from USC, a master’s degree in school administration from Cal State Northridge and a bachelor’s degree in ancient history from St. Edwards University in Austin, Tex.
A resident of Granada Hills, Ferry is married and has three sons.
