Proposals for Solving County’s Traffic Jams

Share

Re the failure of passage of Measure M:

Your editorial “Measure M: Time to Regroup” (Nov. 9) states that this proposition “failed to overcome Orange County’s anti-tax mentality” for the purpose of raising revenue for roadway improvements. I voted against Measure M, not because of a half-cent tax increase, but because it was supported and financed heavily by land developers and politicians.

Any road improvements would continue to attract more people to move to Southern California and especially Orange County. I don’t want to see that happen. If anything, I would like to see people attracted out of this area into regions with smaller populations. If people must live here, then they should arrange their lives so they live close to their jobs.

This area was designed to hold only a certain number of people without compromising a comfortable life style. The recent newcomers, knowing full well that we are being more and more densely populated and that our traffic problems are horrendous, are being piggish and irresponsible for insisting on settling here. We don’t need any more people to further ruin this area. Those who have moved here within the last 15 years are doing a good enough job already.
