Times Mirror Buys Cable System: Times Mirror Cable Television agreed to buy a 7,100-subscriber cable system in Sun City, Calif., owned by Chambers Communications Corp., a Eugene, Ore.-based cable and broadcasting company. A sales price was not disclosed, but recent sales of cable systems have averaged about $2,400 for each subscriber, making the Chambers deal worth about $17 million. The acquisition by Times Mirror Cable, a subsidiary of Times Mirror, which owns The Times, must still receive government approval.
