Pasadena : Central Park Plan OKd
A master plan for 11-acre Central Park near City Hall was approved Tuesday by the Pasadena Board of Directors.
Although the changes in the park could cost $1.9 million, so far the city has allocated only $198,750 for irrigation improvements.
The remaining improvements could be funded through the issuance of city bonds, the creation of assessment districts or the use of the city’s general operation funds, according to city staff.
Purchased in 1902 and one of the city’s oldest parks, Central Park is located between Del Mar Boulevard and Dayton Street and Raymond and Fair Oaks avenues.
Proposed improvements include a small, intimate garden at the northern end, a meadow in the center for large gatherings, and lawns at the southern end with a gazebo and bowling green, which would be relocated from the center of the park.
