Airbus Announces New Model: France’s Airbus consortium plans to build a new two-engine short- to medium-range aircraft able to carry 186 passengers, Airbus Industrie announced. Ten companies have placed orders for 107 of the planes, with options to buy 14 more, Airbus said. The consortium envisions building up to 1,300 of the aircraft, with the first deliveries to take place in 1994.
