Pitchess Honor Rancho Escapees Recaptured
Two escapees from the Peter J. Pitchess Honor Rancho in Saugus were recaptured by sheriff’s deputies early Monday at a Valencia gas station, authorities said.
Julio Rotino, 28, and Gostada Munoz, 18, both serving sentences for grand theft auto, were captured about 9 a.m. at a gas station near Magic Mountain Parkway and The Old Road, said Deputy George Ducoulombier.
The two were discovered missing from the facility’s minimum-security area Sunday during a 10 p.m. count of inmates, Ducoulombier said. The men, who were scheduled for release in January, were rebooked at the Santa Clarita sheriff’s station, he said.
It was unclear how they had escaped, Ducoulombier said.
