RoboCop Goes ‘Upscale’: Murphy, the deadly hero of the 1987 smash film “RoboCop,” will make his debut as a comic book character Jan. 16th in a new 32-page, $1.50 “upscale” series from Marvel Comics. “We’re going to capture the combination of break-neck action and social satire that made the movie a tremendous success,” says Marvel editor Greg Wright. “We also want to explore the characters in more depth.” Two British writers, Alan Grant (“Judge Dredd”) and Lee Sullivan (“Nick Fury, Agent of Shield”) will create new stories for Murphy and his partner, Lewis. The redoubtable duo will take on a clutch of new villains, including an earlier, more deadly Robocop prototype, live dinosaurs and a rival team of robot enforcers called Nixcops.
