Who Will Attend: Hollywood insiders will be keeping a close watch on who attends this year’s American Cinematheque spring gala, as the event is being sponsored by Japanese corporation JVC, the biggest competitor of Sony Corp., which owns Columbia Pictures. At the gala, the Moving Picture Ball, to be held March 23 in the Century Plaza Hotel, Director Ron Howard (“Cocoon,” “Parenthood”) will receive the American Cinematheque Award as a top talent and contributor in film. The event is an annual sold-out gathering of Hollywood’s creative minds and power brokers.
