Fluorocarbon Earnings Dip: Fluorocarbon Co., the Laguna Niguel manufacturer, reported that while third-quarter sales were up 30%, earnings declined 13%. For the three months ended Nov. 4, net earnings totaled $2.2 million, compared to $2.5 million for the like quarter last year. Sales rose to $82.8 million from $63.5 million. Net income for the nine-month period declined 20%, to $6.5 million from $8.1 million. Last year’s figure included a one-time gain of $1 million on sale of assets. Sales increased 37%, to $252.7 million from $184.3 million. Peter Churm, chairman of the company, said the results reflected the acquisitions of Dixon, CHR and Bunnell, which were completed in February. Fluorocarbon manufactures polymer components for a wide range of industrial markets.
