Highway Repair Work Planned
Repair work on a two-mile stretch of Pacific Coast Highway through Long Beach and Wilmington will slow traffic for to five months beginning early next month, Caltrans officials say.
Work on the $1.1-million project, which will be suspended during rush hours, will affect the stretch from the Long Beach Freeway interchange west to Alameda Street in Wilmington, Caltrans spokesman Thomas Knox said.
The contract, awarded to Industrial Asphalt of Irwindale, bans repair work on weekdays from 6 to 9 a.m. and 3 to 6 p.m.
Nearby streets will be closed intermittently for a short time during the project, Knox said.
