The United States announced that it has collected a total of $32.7 million from 99 Japanese building companies to settle bid-rigging charges involving the construction of a U.S. Navy base in Yokosuka, Japan . . . The New York Stock Exchange reported that program trading last month amounted to 6.4% of average daily volume of 144.4 million shares, or 9.3 million shares a day.
