Man Shot in Head While Driving on 91 Freeway
A Compton man was on life-support systems after he was shot in the head Wednesday night while driving on the 91 Freeway in North Long Beach, authorities said Thursday.
Anthony Henderson, 29, was hit once in the forehead when three shots apparently were fired from a dark Datsun compact car cruising alongside Henderson’s pickup truck in the eastbound lanes of the 91 Freeway near the Long Beach Freeway, said Long Beach Police Detective Estella Martinez, who added that the motive for the attack was unknown.
She said a 15-year-old passenger took control of the truck and, after it crashed into the center divider, drove the vehicle off the freeway to a gas station on Long Beach Boulevard, where police were called. Henderson was rushed to Long Beach Memorial Medical Center where he was in critical condition in the intensive care unit, spokesman Ron Yukelson said.
