From Times Staff and Wire Service Reports

A Cypress police dog led officers to two juveniles suspected of a Christmas Day robbery as they were hiding in the bushes outside a condominium complex early today, police said.

The youths--a 15-year-old from Fullerton and a 16-year-old from Anaheim--were suspected of stealing a late-model pickup truck from another young man at knifepoint about 9 p.m. Monday near Charles Tewinkle Memorial Park in Costa Mesa.

The names of the youths were not released because they are juveniles.

Cypress Police Officer Richard Ayers spotted the truck more than four hours after it was reported stolen as it was being driven by two youths near Orange Avenue and Valley View Street, said police dispatcher Denise Davis.

The youths in the truck made a sharp turn into the condominium complex near the intersection and ran away, she said. Officers searched the area for more than two hours without finding them before calling in the dog, which found the youths hiding in bushes, Davis said.

One of the boys suffered bites on his legs. Both were booked into Orange County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of robbery, possession of stolen property and auto theft.
