THE SIDELINES : Curry Stops Lally in 2nd Round
Former two-time world champion Donald Curry of Ft. Worth, Tex., stopped Brett Lally of Detroit in the second round of their scheduled 10-round junior middleweight bout Tuesday night.
Curry dropped Lally with a right early in the second round. After Lally took the mandatory eight-count, Curry landed two left hooks before referee Richard Steele stopped the bout 41 seconds into the round.
It was Curry’s first bout since he lost his World Boxing Council super welterweight title to Rene Jacquot in France on Feb. 11.
Curry boosted his record to 32-3. Lally is 24-5.
