A group controlled by the Pritzker family of Chicago said it lowered its stake in Beverly Enterprises Inc. to 3.8% of the common shares outstanding . . . Negotiators for striking coal miners and the Pittston Co. ended their Christmas break and resumed talks. They were were expected to bargain around the clock to settle the nine-month walkout by New Year’s Day.
