LOCAL : Motorcyclist Hurt in Buena Park
A 21-year-old man was critically injured today when he crashed his motor scooter into the rear of a truck on the Beach Boulevard overpass at the Santa Ana Freeway, Buena Park police said.
The man, whose name was withheld until his family could be told, struck the tractor-truck shortly after 6 a.m. as both vehicles were headed west, police spokeswoman Betty Haney said. Police said they did not know the victim’s hometown.
The man, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered massive head injuries and was unconscious when taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, Haney said.
Police said he apparently was traveling at an unsafe speed when he struck the truck, which was headed west at about 15 to 20 m.p.h. The driver of the truck was not cited.
