Solar Plant Begins Delivering Power: LUZ International Ltd. said a new 80-megawatt solar power plant in the Mojave Desert, which it called the world’s largest, began delivering electricity to the Southern California Edison utility grid. Located 140 miles northeast of Los Angeles, the system will provide enough power to serve about 75,000 homes, Edison said. LUZ, Edison’s main solar provider, said the new system allows it to produce 274 megawatts of electricity in Southern California.
