3 Candidates Round Out Field in Election to Replace Campbell
Two councilmen and an American Independent Party candidate from Rowland Heights will round out the eight-candidate field in the Feb. 6 special primary election to determine who will replace state Sen. William Campbell.
The councilmen in the race for the 31st Senate District seat are Gary G. Miller, a Republican from Diamond Bar, and Bradley J. McFadden, a Democrat from West Covina. Also participating in the race will be American Independent Party candidate Robert W. Lewis of Rowland Heights.
The sprawling district straddles Los Angeles and Orange counties, stretching north to West Covina and south to Laguna Beach. Registered Republicans outnumber Democrats 54% to 36% in the district.
Miller will join Assemblymen Gil Ferguson (R-Newport Beach) and Frank Hill (R-Whittier), and Brea City Councilman Ron Isles in the Republican race. McFadden will participate in the Democratic primary with candidates Janice Lynn Graham and Thomas M. Whaling. Lewis is the sole representative of his party.
