HUNTINGTON BEACH — A 30-year-old woman fought off a would-be rapist early Saturday morning, but police were unable to find him, Lt. John Foster said.
The suspect was described as 6-foot-2, 170 to 180 pounds and wearing black clothing, Foster said. He entered the woman’s apartment in the area of Coral Cay Lane and Pacific Coast Highway at about 4:15 a.m. through what police believe was an unlocked sliding glass door.
The victim awoke to find the man on top of her with his hand over her mouth, but she fought him off by screaming and striking him, Foster said. The suspect fled through the front door. A subsequent police search in the area failed to locate him.
Foster said police have no indication that the incident is connected with any others in the area.
