From Times Staff and Wire Service Reports

John Landis will direct the new HBO comedy series “Dream On” starring Brian Benben, it was reported.

The show, expected to debut on the cable channel in mid-1990, features Benben in the role of Martin Tupper, a divorced New Yorker who views much of his life through the images of old TV movies and series.

The series will focus on Tupper’s relationship with his 10-year-old son, the Hollywood Reporter said today in disclosing the Landis-HBO deal.
