Poker Parlor Shut Down by Bankruptcy Court
The California Bell Club, a poker parlor which in its heyday raked in $2 million a year in tax revenues for the city of Bell, last week was ordered shut down by a bankruptcy court judge.
Federal bankruptcy court Judge Kathleen March ordered that the card club be turned over to an independent trustee to oversee the liquidation of assets and payments to creditors.
The financially beleaguered club’s owners had filed in April for reorganization under federal bankruptcy laws and, in November, the court approved the sale of the Bell Club for $8 million to a group of Southern California businessmen.
