Santa Monica : Acting Airport Director

Share

Jeff Mathieu, the city’s economic development manager, has been appointed acting airport director by City Manager John Jalili.

Mathieu, who oversees negotiations on most leases of city-owned property, replaces Hank Dittmar, who resigned last month after five years to take a job with San Francisco’s Metropolitan Transportation Commission.

Mathieu, 37, assumes the new job Friday, when Dittmar’s resignation is effective. Although he has no airport experience, Mathieu assisted Dittmar in negotiating commercial leases at the airport.

Jalili said he expects to appoint a permanent airport manager in about six months.

Mathieu came to Santa Monica in 1986 after serving as a project manager for the Inglewood Planning Department.
