NATION : Alaska Redoubt Volcano Erupts

ANCHORAGE, Alaska —
Redoubt Volcano erupted today with no warning, shooting an ash plume at least 30,000 feet into the air that was visible 110 miles away in Anchorage, a scientist said.
Dan Miller of the Alaska Volcano Observatory said: “We’re having an eruption right now. It looks like a major one. It does contain a lot of ash. It didn’t give any immediate warning.”
