Health Foundation Board Post Is Open

Mary Davis has resigned from the board of the South Bay Hospital District, a foundation that provides money for public health programs in Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach.
Davis, a former owner of the Portofino Inn and a board member since 1983, was recently married and lives most of the time in Palm Springs although she retains a Redondo Beach address, according to the district.
In her resignation letter, which the five-member board accepted with regret last week, Davis said her post should be filled by someone with more time to devote to the district.
The board will appoint a successor before March 4 and has asked the public to make written comments and recommendations on the appointment by Jan. 19. They will be reviewed by the board at a public meeting Feb. 1 at 5 p.m. at the district’s office, 700 N. Pacific Coast Highway, Suite 206, Redondo Beach. Any registered voter in the three cities is eligible.
