Ex-Security Guard Pleads No Contest in Attacks

Share

A former security guard accused of posing as a police officer to rob, assault or attempt to sexually molest nine women motorists last summer pleaded no contest this week in Pomona Superior Court.

David Anthony McGregor, 19, of Whittier, originally faced 24 counts in connection with the roadside attacks that occurred near the Pomona Freeway, from Pico Rivera to Hacienda Heights, during the first two weeks of July. The charges included assault with intent to commit rape, brandishing a knife, impersonating a police officer and false imprisonment.

McGregor, who was a security guard at an auto dealership in the City of Industry at the time of his arrest, had faced a maximum of 12 years in prison. But he changed his plea to no contest after Judge William McVittie offered him a sentence of at least three but no more than five years in prison. A sentencing hearing is set for April 10.
