150 Residents Protest Landfill Gas Burner

SAN CLEMENTE — More than 150 angry residents packed a hearing room Wednesday night to protest a proposed methane gas burner that would be visible from their homes.
The burner would be located at the county-operated Prima Deshecha landfill. It would have a 60-foot smokestack and would burn methane gas from the landfill. It would be about 600 feet from homes in the Forster Ranch neighborhood.
Residents were concerned that the smokestack would mar their view of the countryside, reduce the values of their homes and affect air quality.
