LOCAL : USC Effort Raises $567 Million
USC raised more than $567 million in five years in one of the largest fund-raising drives in the history of higher education, USC President James Zumberge said today.
As of Dec. 31, 1989, six months before its deadline, USC had raised $567.6 million, breaking its target goal of $557 million set in 1984 when the drive began.
The money, in part, was used to build a state-of-the art neurosciences building for brain research; a deluxe student recreation center; the only center of its kind dedicated to the study of real estate development, and a molecular medicine research facility.
