Stewart Widdess Sr.; Former Robinson Co. President
Stewart Widdess Sr., 80, president of the J. W. Robinson Co. in the 1940s, an era in which the Los Angeles department store expanded into Beverly Hills and Palm Springs. He moved to Minnesota in 1953 when he was hired by Dayton’s there. He helped start the National Target chain before returning to California in 1964, where he joined a business consulting firm. In Walnut Creek, Calif., on Dec. 19 of heart failure.
