Parks Conservation Executive Appointed
Peter Ireland, a former aide to Los Angeles County Supervisor Deane Dana, has been appointed assistant executive officer of the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority.
The authority, based in Malibu, is responsible for operations and park development on lands acquired by the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy. The conservancy’s executive director, Joe Edmiston, serves as the authority’s ex officio executive officer.
Edmiston said that Ireland’s appointment brings “an added dimension of management ability at a time when it is especially critical that we work more closely with county government and citizens groups.”
