Share

The Board of Directors on Tuesday agreed to allocate an additional $11,000 to fund the Union Station Foundation’s relocation and expansion of its bad-weather shelter for the homeless.

The foundation receives $5,000 annually from the city to run the shelter but asked for the increase after it moved the shelter from the Salvation Army gymnasium, 180 N. Mentor Ave., to the Pasadena Covenant Church gymnasium, 539 N. Lake Ave., which will accommodate more beds.

The shelter is open from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. from Nov. 1 to March 31 on nights rain is predicted or the temperature is expected to drop below 40 degrees.
