Bellflower : Home Economics Teacher Gets Award
A home economics teacher at Bellflower High School was one of two teachers selected statewide for the 1989 Home Economics Teachers Recognition Award.
Joyce Grohmann, who has been teaching at Bellflower High School since 1984, was given the award for her dedication and commitment.
Three years ago, Grohmann was awarded a $25,000 federal grant to set up a catering class at the high school. She said her students operated a small restaurant and catered meals to the faculty and the community.
“The kids learned from the classroom how to run a catering business,” she said.
Grohmann also has been active in Future Homemakers of America. She attended Cypress College and received her bachelor’s degree from Cal State Long Beach in 1980.
