Colombian Drug Suspect Extradited
A Colombian indicted in Massachusetts on drug trafficking charges was extradited Sunday for trial in the United States, the U.S. Marshals Service said.
Joseph Amsili-Cohen, 38, was turned over by Colombian authorities to a team of the Marshals Service’s Special Operations Group in Bogota, authorities said.
Amsili-Cohen, a native of Morocco and a naturalized citizen of Colombia, was indicted in Boston in 1988 on charges of participating in a cocaine trafficking ring.
He was the 14th suspected drug trafficker sent to the United States to face charges after Colombia reinstated its extradition treaty with the United States last August.
