Normand Rochefort’s first goal of the season with less than four minutes to play lifted the visiting New York Rangers to a 4-3 victory over the Edmonton Oilers Tuesday night.

The game marked the debut of center Bernie Nicholls with the Rangers. Nicholls, obtained from the Kings during the all-star break for Tomas Sandstrom and Tony Granato, didn’t score and hasn’t since Jan. 1. Nicholls, who played on the power-play and penalty-killing units, was stopped point-blank early in the game by goalie Bill Ranford.

Ulf Dahlen scored two goals and had an assist on Rochefort’s winner. Rookie goaltender Mike Richter stopped 33 shots as the Rangers extended their unbeaten streak to five games (3-0-2).
