Jury’s Not Guilty Verdict in McMartin Pre-School Case

After reading today’s Times (Jan. 19), I am left with the impression that everyone is relieved that the McMartin trial is over. The jurors, attorneys, and, of course, the defendants are all relieved.

I, for one, am not relieved, but deeply disturbed--disturbed by a society in which children have no rights, neither before nor after birth; disturbed by a society in which the guilty are set free, no matter how heinous the crime, if the plethora of legal T’s are not crossed nor I’s dotted.

What a demented message we have sent to those children who have suffered so much!
