Lawsuit Seeks to Halt Development in Foothills
In an attempt to stop a 272-unit housing development on 220 acres in the San Gabriel Mountain foothills, the Friends of La Vina, an Altadena group opposed to the project, filed a lawsuit Friday against Los Angeles County.
The suit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, asks the court to overturn the county supervisors’ approval of the project. The suit argues that county officials violated the California Environmental Quality Act by approving the project without first conducting biological and archeological studies.
The project, in the Angeles National Forest at the northern end of Lincoln Avenue, was proposed 3 1/2 years ago by developer Tim Cantwell in partnership with Southwest Diversified Inc.
