WORLD IN BRIEF : WASHINGTON, D.C. : Bush, Cristiani to Discuss Priests’ Case
President Bush will discuss the investigation of the slayings of six Jesuit priests when he meets Thursday with Salvadoran President Alfredo Cristiani at the White House, Bush’s press secretary said. Marlin Fitzwater said they will also discuss prospects for peace in Central America. Cristiani’s government has charged nine members of the Salvadoran military in the slayings of the six Jesuits, their housekeeper and her daughter last Nov. 16. In San Salvador, a judge rejected an appeal by defense lawyers to overturn the indictments.
