A San Fernando man was convicted Tuesday of second-degree murder for a drive-by gang shooting that left a 16-year-old boy dead and two other boys injured.

A Van Nuys Superior Court jury deliberated three days before finding Felipe Madrigal, 19, guilty of shooting Robert Sanchez to death with an M-1 carbine March 18. He was also found guilty of four counts of attempted second-degree murder.

According to court records, a vehicle driven by Madrigal cut off a car in which Sanchez was a passenger at Sherman Way and Sepulveda Boulevard in Van Nuys. Madrigal and Sanchez exchanged gang insults, and Madrigal fired into the other car, wounding two of its five occupants and killing Sanchez.
