Man Stabbed to Death in Sun Valley Home

A Sun Valley man was found stabbed to death in his bed Wednesday, apparently after a break-in, Los Angeles police reported. No arrests were made.

Gregory Ellis Kellel-Sophiea, 38, was found dead in his home in the 9700 block of Orcas Avenue, Detective Al Ferrand said.

Kellel-Sophiea was found about 3:15 a.m. by his wife, who had been sleeping in another room, Ferrand said. The wife and a 6-year-old daughter, whose identities were not released, apparently had not heard the attack, he said.

“There is evidence that someone forced their way into the home, but we don’t know why,” Ferrand said. There was no indication that anything had been taken, he said.

Police were unable to determine if Kellel-Sophiea was attacked in his sleep or had fought his assailant.
