LOCAL : Sun Chases Rain Clouds Away

Scattered showers early this morning created only a trace of measurable rainfall before giving way to sunny skies that are expected to continue over Orange County until Sunday, according to local forecasts.
Reports from 35 countywide rain gauge stations showed that the highest measurable rainfall, .04 inches, fell in Silverado Canyon, said Lane Waldner of the Orange County Flood Control District.
Sunny weather is expected to continue Friday, with some gusty winds from the north and highs in the mid-60s, said meteorologist Ken Smith of WeatherData, which provides forecasts for The Times.
Saturday will be sunny and warmer, with highs in the low 70s. On Sunday, a cooling trend will bring a chance of showers and highs in the mid- to upper 60s, Smith said.
